Wind and solar accounted for 30% of Turkey's installed capacity in the first quarter of 2025

At the end of March, wind and solar power accounted for about 30 percent of Turkey's total installed capacity.

At the same time, Turkey's total installed power capacity had reached 117,876 megawatts (MW) at the end of March.

Turkey's growing population has led to increased energy demand, efforts to reduce the current account deficit caused by imports of fossil fuels such as oil and gas, and the drive to expand the industrial sector have accelerated investment, especially in the wind and solar energy sectors.

At the end of March 2024, Turkey's installed solar capacity was 16,700 MW, which has increased by 129% to 21,620 MW as of the end of March this year.

At the same time, wind power installed capacity increased by 108% from 12,082 MW in the same period last year to 13,098 MW at the end of March this year.

As a result, wind and solar's combined share of installed capacity will rise from 25.7% at the end of March last year to 30% at the end of March 2025.
