A proposed solar farm in Wiltshire, England, will power 29,000 homes

There are plans to build two new solar farms in Wiltshire, England. Belltown Power said it had designated Mount Pleasant in Wanborough and Hoopers Pool in Southwick as development sites.

The company says the two sites will meet the energy needs of nearly 29,000 homes.

Wanborough Arena will later hold a public meeting to outline the Mount Pleasant plan before submitting a formal planning application.

The 150-acre Mount Pleasant site and the 120-acre Hoopers Pool site can still be used for agricultural purposes, such as grazing sheep, according to the company's website.

The proposals are temporary and the land will be restored to its original use after 40 years.

Planning applications for both solar farms are expected to be submitted to Wiltshire County Council and Swindon Council in the early summer of this year.
